HISTORY OF APFUTU

FORMATION:

On 23 rd March 1992 a meeting of trade unions friends were held at 52 Mozang Road , Lahore under the chairmanship of great labour leader and founder of Pakistan WAPDA Labour Union Ch. Riaz Ahmed (Late). During this meeting they decided that a national level federation may be form and register from the National Industrial Relations Commission, Islamabad . All the participants of meeting unanimously elect to Chou dry Riaz Ahmed (Advocate) as first president of All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions (APFUTU) and its head office was announced in Gujrat (Punjab).

REGISTRATION

On 11 th April 1992 application for registration submitted to the registrar of trade unions (NIRC) Islamabad ( Federal Ministry of Labour) and APFUTU was registered from NIRC on 7 th April 1993 vide registration No: 3 (11 ) / 92 as a national (general) trade union federation.

ACTIVATIES (Brief History)

The APFUTU has participated in so many national level and International level Congress, Conferences, Seminars and workshops. Since the formation 167 delegations of APFUTU has participated in the conferences, seminars, congress in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Korea, Morocco, Middle east, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, France, United Kingdom, United State of America, Canada, Italy, Greece, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Finland, Portugal, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Peru, Senegal, Egypt, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Luxemburg, etc. And also Delegation from United Kingdom, Sweden, United State of America, France, India, Bangladesh, Finland, Greece, Senegal, Australia has visited and participated in the APFUTU events here in Pakistan. The All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions (APFUTU) was the host of Global March against the Child Labour during April,.1998 and that time Senior Vice President Mr. Nazir Saddiqui was the leader and he lead the March from Pakistan to Switzerland ( ILO ) head office. After that the APFUTU was the host of Women Millennium March.

The APFUTU organised International Child Labour Conference, International Women Rights Seminar, Asia-Pacific Forced Labour Seminar, International workers Conference here in Pakistan . Moreover the APFUTU have good relations with the foreign countries labour unions as well as international TUI's. Every month 2/ 3 delegation from APFUTU participates in the seminars, conferences outside the country.

The APFUTU has launched campaign against the Forced Labour; Bonded Labour in country and thousands of kiln workers has been freed due to struggle of APFUTU. An APFUTU member organisation Pakistan Brick Kiln Labour Union has fight historical Brick Kiln workers case in Supreme Court Lahore Bench during 1988 with the calibration of Pakistan Bhatta Mazdoor Mohaz... During 1992, that time federal Minister of Labour & Manpower Mr. Ejaz Ul Haq has visited the APFUTU & PBKLU head office and he address to a very big rally of workers in GUJRAT. At that time he announced that I will present a bill of Bonded Labour (System) Abolition for the freedom of kiln workers in the next assembly session. During 1993 the Provincial Minister Anwar ul Haq has participated in the oath ceremony and he took oath from the Office bearers of APFUTU.
